Trio To be Sung

The Dutch ensemble To be Sung was formed by
Elisa Roep – soprano
Eva van de Poll – violoncello
Fie Schouten – clarinets

All three graduated at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. In 2001 they started their very own journey for mostly contemporary repertoire in which the warm and expressive sound of their lyrical instruments could melt together, creating the unique sounding performances they are known for. They were active as a trio until 2015.

In 2006 To Be Sung toured with her project ‘Amsterdam, de Wereld’, for which they invited seven composers with a physical connection to the metropolis that is Amsterdam.
With their divers backgrounds (classical/ jazz/ improvisation and world music) they composed new pieces, that, just like the city herself, are infused with influences from cultures far-away and closer to home, bringing a wonderfully eclectic mix of musical styles.

“The brain of an opera singer 2 minutes for her debut performance at the Vienna State Opera.
Time is frozen, the two minutes seem half an hour, we are witnesses of her fears and fantasies that flash through her head. Her greatest fear – no single tone comes out on the supreme moment – seems to be unavoidable.”
Full lenght 30 minutes.
